Social Studies homework is studying the seven contients and four oceans. Also, the regions of the United States. You should start learning the names AND capitals( spelling too) of each of the 50 states. We will start with the Northeast Region in late September! Please watch the videos below!!
SUMMER HOMEWORK:
- Read every day, no matter what. A great goal is 30-60 minutes per day. Remember, reading ANYTHING counts. (chapter books, graphic novels, comic books, magazines, newspapers, recipe books, etc.) Go to the library!!! If you need help choosing a book, talk to the librarian and check out www.planetesme.com for more books than you could ever read in one summer! Use http://bookwizard.scholastic.com/ to find the reading level of books--the letter we use on our report cards is called "guided reading" on this site.
- Practice math facts (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) EVERY DAY for 15 minutes. Play free online games (check out http://bcs34.wikis.birmingham.k12.mi.us/Math) and keep flashcards next to your seat in the car so you can practice EVERY time you’re riding.
- Write as much as you can.
- Practice typing. You can do a typing program or you can do your writing on the computer or you can email your teachers and friends!
- Have playdates with kids from our class and from Mrs. Parkin’s class. Be sure to see incoming 3rd graders and our beloved friends who just became 5th graders!!
- Play outside as much as possible. Read outside. Wear sunscreen! Spend as little “screen time” as possible! (That means not more t.v. and video game time than outside time!)
- Do your summer packet!! Download the 3/4 summer packet at http://www.bcsonline.info/ . From the top menu bar, chose "Parent Resources" and then "Summer Packets" and the 3/4 list of files.
- We will be studying the regions of the United States. You should start learning the names AND capitals( spelling too) of each of the 50 states. We will start with the Northeast Region in late September! Please watch the videos below!!
Many of you will be starting your annual Back To School shopping adventure soon. If I may make a suggestion, please buy extra crayons, glue, tape, pencils, and scissors. Right about January, most students either have run out or have lost these supplies. With the extra you buy, put them away until about January, 2013!
Also, please remember we will be studying the regions of the United States. If you have any pictures of different scenery from your trip, please email me the pictures at mw06bps@birmingham.k12.mi.us. Pictures can include mountains, lighthouses, forest, buildings, oceans/ lakes, etc.
Thank You and see you September 4th.
Mr. Wallington
